Longest Day of the Year
We celebrated by staying up late and packing! Here is a photo of the back garden at 10pm on summer solstice just before the sun officially set. It rose at just after 5 in the morning. It stays light until about midnight and start getting light around 3:30 am.

A few side notes: Never fear, we have located a source of 'platform mattresses' for our hippy bed in Roanoke. They are open on Sunday (probably why they carry hippy mattresses) AND deliver.
Tomorrow is our final trip to the Utrecht market. Elena handled the moving bears pretty well, but saying goodbye to Lonneke and Tony tomorrow has been hard and she is currently yelling herself to sleep in bed while screaming, 'I don't want a new market.' But she seems genuinely excited about her new school. We thought that Ukkie might be getting a little boring for her. Especially now that the dutch is no challenge at all. While she will miss the 'babies' and being the 'big susia' (sister), she is clearly ready for a little more 'big kid' stuff at school. Hopefully this makes that transition a little easier.
