Skip to my Loo (Het Loo, that is)

On Sunday (under visions of 'nice weather' from Jake's supervisor--he was ill informed), took a trip to Appeldorn to visit Paleis Het Loo. It was built but the guy who married Mary Queen of Scots and Queen Whilimenia retired there. It was our first visit to a palace. Not too bad if you need two wings for your horse stables and about a 532348390 car garage. And that was just the transportation facility. The palace itself was redone with different rooms for different queens and kings. When we got to Queen Mary's room, Jake and I were discussing the finer points of extreme canopy bed (no photos inside, sorry) when Elena asks, 'Mary and baby Jesus slept here?' Not quite kiddo, I'm pretty sure it was no peasants allowed, even if you are a holy mother and the son of God. We strolled the gardens, it gave a new meaning to garden party. I always think of that as cracking open a few cold beers and lighting up the grill. Perfectly trimmed box wood gives it a more formal feel. Elena was slight annoyed that all the fountains were turned off. It would be quite impressive in the summer, but don't know if we'll have time for a repeat visit.

only about one quarter of the modest garage....
