Escape Goat

Following the week of windy weather and disturbed train travel, we aborted our plans of hopping the train to a new city and stayed home this Sunday. We did brave the remaining gusts and headed to Griffen Park to hang out with the animals.

Elena starts off by modeling her new, next size up felt pack boots - thank goodness for boot cut jeans!

Then we biked off and started with distribution of stale bread to the hungry masses. Poppa was not successful in nabbing a diuven for Elena to pet this time, however. But check out their shadows - this was high noon. The sun is about 'two fists' (that's Jake fists - equivalent to three Erin fists and approximately 5 Elena fists) above the horizon as Jake likes to say.

Elena has been getting much braver about petting animals. She actually wanted to go in and pet the goats. During a confusing gate incident involving two other kids trying to get through - one of the goats, who was cleverly waiting right by the swinging gate escaped. Jake left Elena with me and took off after the escapee. Elena and I couldn't get any decent pictures of Jake and a hoard of small children chasing the goat through the playground. But eventually the prisoner was returned by Jake, escorted by two back up guards.

We returned home to warm chocolate (the mexican variety!) and Jake spending about 3 hours fixing our wireless hub (we are live again).
