Oh Tannenbaum

We always get our tree right after Thanksgiving, on Saturday if the Texas vs A&M game is on TV and on Friday if it's not. Wait, let's not talk about the Texas vs. A&M game...

This year would be no exception. Last year was, we didn't have a tree, or any Christmas decorations since we were moving. Even though we are spending a great deal of Decemeber on the road, we have decided to not let it impact our holiday celebrations this year. To this end, Jake has been playing Christmas music since early November. We also decided not to let the lack of an official Thanksgiving get in our way.

In preparation, Elena and I cut the tree ahead of time.


Then on Friday night, we had a family evening decorating the tree. Poppa hung it up and got the lights just right.


Then the elves got busy making decorations.



Elena liked to decorate and hang the pigeons the best.


We finished up with warme chocolat and olliebollen (a dutch fried doughnut with raisins, a holiday treat). (turns out feeding your kid donuts and chocolate at 8pm is not a good way to get them settled for bed)


Turned out pretty good, if we do say so ourselves.
