Yup, she's our kid
This weekend we decided to have a 'lazy' Sunday. Since it was the weekend after our trip to Antwerp and our good friend Martha is arriving at the end of this week. Sunday morning we woke up, after our tasty pancake breakfast Elena asked, 'Ukkie open?' Nope, Ukkie's closed today. 'Market open?' Nope, market is closed. 'Ride train today?' No, not today. 'Ride bus?' No, not today. Long pause....'go to museum?' No. Then we explained we were spending a quiet morning and afternoon at home and waiting for one of our Santa Cruz professors, Paul, who happened to be in town, to call so we could meet him for dinner. She was not impressed. 'We go visit Graeme?' No, honey, Graeme is in England. She was pretty confused how a day without Ukkie, the market or some sort of adventure could occur. Guess we have raised her this way, but we could be in trouble during the cold rainy winter.
About an hour later she asked, "Daddy, where is England?" Damn, she is smart.
