Tempting Trappists
We have developed a dangerous new hobby...tasting Trappist Belgian Beers. We discovered Berts Beir Huse about two weeks ago. Let's just say, we've been back a couple of times....
There are 6 Trappist breweries. We've been working our way through the 30 odd varieties. The dangerous part is that there beers are double and triple brewed. That means an alchohol content of upto 12 percent (after which, evidently, the yeasts poision themselves, so it is the highest you can go). But it tastes so yummy, and just like, well beer. Not nearly as strong as it is, that's for sure. The first night we pounded two down with dinner (switching bottles halfway through). We had to postpone elena's bath as neither of us felt 'up' to the task. We are overworked, over tired, light weight parents. They knocked us right down!
So far our favorite is the Rochefort. The triple is 11.3% alchohol. Whew! Luckily the ones at 6% are pretty tasty too.
