In love with Lonikie, The Cheese Lady
I'm pretty sure that Elena would run off the with cheese lady, Lonikie, and I think Jake would go along too (she's quite cute).

Elena has a bit of hero worship going on. First, it was just 'the cheese lady' and she was shy. Maybe she would taste some of what we were trying. Then the progression from nuewe kaas to oude kaas (very strong and sharp). Now she clearly adores the cheese lady and the oldest, most exclusive cheeses. Now the first thing that happens when we walk up is that Lonikie selects a cheese sample just for Elena and hands it personally to her. Then, of course, Elena gets to taste the biggest sample of whatever we try. And, if there is a plate of oude kaas out as samples, she likes to help herself.
The culimation was last week. One of the cheese guys (a very nice fellow) was handing out samples in front and offered a big slice to elena...who refused...refused kaas? What was going on? Then Elena stared at Lonikie. I took the sample from the dejected cheese guy and put it in Elena's hand. Lonikie cut Elena another special piece of cheese and Elena quickly grabbed it, shoving the cheese guy's cheese back into my hand and glaring at him while she ate. I guess she doesn't trust his taste in cheese.
This week when we walked up, he remembered Elena and got a good laugh with Lonikie about her little kaas hound.
We've made an amazing discovery about the cheese lady as well...she also carries farmhouse butter and yogurt. Yes, we are in dairy heaven. Farmhouse butter. It really doesn't get any better than that...well except for a nice boren pinkant aged farmhouse cheese, that is pretty tasty too.
We miss somethings terrible. Like fresh organic strawberries from our CSA box from Two Small Farms. We would make cakes, smoothes, eat them straight, into jam...and they tasted perfect, like sunshine, sugar, and summer. The strawberries here are watery, soft, and a little dull. So, strawberries they don't have, but we've never eaten cheese this good before.
