Pancakes, Potjes, and Pigtails

This weekend had some exciting developments. We found a pancake griddle! Though we were searching for a waffle iron, we just couldn't find what we were thinking of (what we did find was poor quality sandwhich presses that can be switched into waffle irons - questionable). What I wanted was one like Grandpa Richard's! But we found the pancake griddle and converted a pancake recipe to metric and gave it a go. The results were pretty good. We had a great breakfast.

This weekend, Elena also got an exciting present - a Potje! just like the ones at school. She has been enjoying sitting on the potje, although we think we are a good while away from any sort of potty training. Bunny, however, is progressing quite quickly.

And then, our little monkey has hair long enough for pigtails. And with the addition of two rubber bands, she looks so much older. Like her mom, Elena likes to have her hair brushed and Dad is frequently pressed into 'pony-tail' re-insertion service.

For the most part, we had a lazy Sunday. We all slept late (which was needed, given that Elena has a terrible cold!), had pancakes, went for a bike ride, lunch, family nap time, some winter sports on the TV, and then a nice big beef stew with dumplings for dinner! Sounds like we are hitting our groove, Ja!
